DK is pretty good for soloing, some can solo a +10 as blood (with right trinkets and race). You can solo heal a normal mythic if you use you CDs correctly. Paladin is good too, with all your CDs and heals makes it ideal for soloing old content. Both have good DPSs, even though, in my opinion Paladin is not as fun as DK (probably bias).
While mindless and dull the farming/grinding routine is still a good way to make a reliable steady gold gain. You can easily make several gold an hour at very low levels and upwards of 200 an hour (or more) at high levels. All you need is an area that works for you and has little enough competition that you can repeatedly fill your bags with loot.
I've played off and on for a long time and slowly knocked out a reasonable chunk of the 3 Cataclysm recipe venders, Farah Facet - 53% Isabel Jones - 28% Terrance Denman - 28% but frankly this grind still seems a little extreme considering all the re-scaling they have done to gems with item/stat squishing making them completely obsolete.
