Playing Yu-Gi-Oh while this strategy existed was just a bad time, because you'd often have to build to beat control decks like Qliphort, or combo decks like Nekroz. It was almost impossible to have sufficient matchup coverage against both types of strategy, signing yourself up for a lot of near-impossible matchups no matter what you chose.

Well Pot of Desires is the closest we're ever going to get to Pot of Greed in modern day Yu-Gi-Oh, and I think it's well worth the cost. By banishing the top 10 cards off your deck face-down, you can draw 2 cards. Having those extra cards in hand can make the difference between winning and losing in Yu-Gi-Oh.

The strategy works absolutely fine without using the Extra Deck, making the banish drawback pretty much irrelevant for the deck and drawing two cards is seriously good. The card is quite expensive at the moment, which is unfortunate, but as soon as the price drops there is no good reason to decide against running three copies.
