How the Discharge System Works. Follower Plate Discharge Systems are used to discharge viscous non-flowable materials from the vessel of a Change Can Mixer. A discharge platen, which is lowered by means of a hydraulic cylinder pushes out the contents of the vessel through a discharge valve which is normally located in the bottom of the mix vessel.
The discharge valves are manifolded to a discharge pipe with its outlet at the rear bumper. The tanker can be loaded by gravity through manholes at the top; it can also be filled pneumatically. To unload, the tank is pressurised to assist the flow of material to the discharge pipe when the discharge valves are opened.
