Kent, I have sharpened the end of an end mill by hand on an 8" bench grinder with reasonable success, ie., 9 tries out of 10 it cuts well and leaves a finish comparable to the factory grind. As pointed out, dress the wheel first and take your time to keep the cutting edges even. And for the 1 in 10 that doesn't cut, back to the grinder.
